Sara
Schmitt has
always been fascinated by horses since a very young age, starting
with an extensive Breyer horse
collection and evolving through the local public riding stable into many
years of membership with the Spring Valley Hounds Pony Club. What
started with a very green horse at age 14 quickly migrated into
several, and encompassed a wide variety of equine activities - hunter/jumper
shows, horse trials, hunting, hunter paces, dressage and even a
little western pleasure.
Sara
Schmitt is an "S" dressage judge, as well as a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medallist. In 2007 Sara was Reserve Champion Region 8 Training Level on "Whirlpool" and Champion First Level Freestyle Region 8 on "Bredero." She was also Second USEF "Horse of the Year" - First Level Freestyle with "Bredero" and 15th "Horse of the Year" Training Level on "Whirlpool." Dressage At Devon 2007, "Whirlpool" was secon in the 4 year old Young Horse Chamnpionship. Sara and "Batman" won the 2007 National Combined Driving Champion - Advanced Single Pony. Sara was a member of the 2003, 2005, 2009 USEF World Pony Driving Championship teams.
The winning experience continued in 2008, with "Whirlpool" ranking second in the USEF "Horse of the Year" awards at first level wth a score of 76.6%, and second in the "Horse of the Year" Awards First Level Freestyle, as well as American Hanoverian All Breeds at First Level and First Level Freestyle. At the USDF Region 8 Championships Sara won First Level and First Level Freestyle on "Whirlpool" and won Third Level Freestyle with "Bredero." Sara and "Whirlpool" also won Midwest Selection Trials - FEI 5 Year Old Young Horse Championships. Sara and "Batman" won the Sunshine state CDE - FEI Single Pony and was Third at the Laurels CDE Combined Driving Event. Sara has also been a member of the 2003, 05 and 09 USEA World Pony Driving Championship Teams.
Sara was the USDF Region 1 ABIC Reserve Champion
at Training, Second and Third level. In 1997 she was the USDF Region
1 ABIC Fourth level Champion. In 1998, Sara and her Swedish Warmblood "Eclipse" were ranked 25th nationally at Prix St. George. In
2001, Sara was the USDF Region 1 ABIC Intermediare Freestyle Champion
on the Holstein gelding "Fusilier", owned by
Susan De Flora.
